Online Public Involvement: East Gadsden Connector

Project Overview

Location: Gadsden (Etowah County)

Welcome to the Public Involvement website for the East Gadsden Connector Project. The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is proposing to provide a six‐lane roadway from the end of the Coosa River Bridge to the intersection of AL-1 (US‐431) and AL‐74 (US‐278) in Gadsden, Alabama. It is anticipated that the project would improve traffic conditions along I-759, US-431, US-278, and other roads in east Gadsden.

The purpose of this site, as well as the upcoming meeting, is to gather input from stakeholders and the community regarding potential improvements and enhancements, and to provide information about relocation assistance within the project area.

ALDOT is conducting online public involvement for the proposed project. All comments regarding this project must be submitted on or before Tuesday November 18, 2025.

IN PERSON MEETING INFO

State of Alabama Department of Transportation will hold a Public Involvement Meeting for the proposed project East Gadsden Connector. This informal meeting will be held as follows:
Tuesday, October 28, 2025
5:00 PM to 7:00 PM
East Gadsden Community Center

This will be an Open-House meeting without any formal presentations. Project information, including maps and comment forms, will be available for review. Representatives from the Alabama Department of Transportation, will be available to answer questions.

Anyone with a disability requiring special assistance, or in need of translation or interpretation assistance, should contact the ALDOT Region Office at (256) 571-7260 at least three days prior to the meeting. The meeting facilities are wheelchair accessible.
