Online and In-person Public Involvement: Coosa River Bridge Replacement

Project Overview

Location: Southside (Etowah County)

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is proposing to replace the existing Northbound bridge on AL-77 over the Coosa River in Etowah County, Alabama. The bridge, which is located between the towns of Rainbow City and Southside is a one-lane historic truss bridge with limited lane width and narrow shoulders. ALDOT proposes to replace the existing bridge with a new bridge that will have two 12- foot lanes, and minimum 6-foot shoulders. The new bridge would be built higher than the existing bridge. Alternatives as well as traffic control for the bridge replacement are under consideration. Right of way will be required.

The purpose of this public involvement meeting is to inform the public of the design features for the project. ALDOT is interested in obtaining input from the people who use this route.

All comments regarding this project must be submitted on or before Friday, July 5, 2024.
