Updated: Intersection Improvements at AL-14 and Firetower Road

Location: Wetumpka (Elmore County)

The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is proposing to improve traffic flow and address safety concerns by modifying access on AL-14 at CR-59 (Firetower Road) in Wetumpka, Elmore County. The proposed project will create a signalized intersection at AL-14 and Firetower Road. Public Involvement was initially conducted in August- September of 2023 for the proposed project. Changes to the design have been made since that requires right of way additions not previously discussed. Along with providing a signal at this location, Firetower Road will be realigned to be 90 degrees with AL-14. Please see the attached Project Overview Map in the Project Maps. More information about a Green T intersection can be found in the Downloads. The road will remain open during construction. Right of way will be required.

The purpose of this public involvement meeting is to inform the public of the design features for the project. ALDOT is interested in obtaining input from the people who use this route.

All comments regarding this project must be submitted on or before Friday, July 19, 2024.
