Project Overview

Location: Mobile (Mobile County)

The project is in Mobile County, on Interstate 65 between the interchange of Celeste Rd and the interchange of AL-158. The purpose of this project is to increase capacity, increase safety, and reduce congestion of I-65 from the interchange of Celeste Rd and the interchange of AL-158. This will be done by widening the roadway to the inside median creating an additional travel lane in each direction. The project will include roadway widening, drainage improvements, concrete median barrier wall, bridge replacement, bridge widening, signing, striping, resurfacing, lighting, and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) components.

Acquisition of additional right-of-way is not anticipated for this project. Construction of this project is schedule to begin Fall 2026 and be complete Spring 2028. Lane closures may be neccessary during construction.

The purpose of this public involvement meeting is to inform the public of the design features for the project. ALDOT is interested in obtaining input from the people who use this route.
